Kuya Reunion 2010 - San Antonio, Texas Information
Kuyas and Kuyettes, that special time has come again. Here are the current details regarding the upcoming Reunion 2010 in San Antonio, Texas scheduled for April 28 - May 2, 2010. Norm and Miki Collins and Darrell Wood are heading the effort as our resident kaibeagans with assistance from Randy Roberts, Joe Cybulski, Bruce Suits, Mike Gilson and able assistance from a host of veteran reunion organizers. The 6922nd Kuya Reunion will be held from April 28 - May 2, 2010 at the El Tropicano Riverwalk Holiday Inn in San Antonio, Texas. This will be our 10th Kuya Reunion dating back to 1977 at South Padre Island. We were last in San Antonio in 2004. Seems like we wait about 5 years or so to go back, like St. Louis. I think maybe that's because of the statute of limitations. We had a great reunion in San Antonio. Check out the pictures from Kuya Reunion 2004 (click).
The room rates are $89.00/night plus a 16.75% occupancy tax levied by Texas for a grand total of $103.91/night. I'll get more info, but I suspect this is the double occupancy rate. There is possibly a small charge for the addition of a roll away if single Kuyas want to share a room. I'll update this site when we find out. All rooms are equipped with coffee makers, hair dryers, iron/ironing boards, data ports and full-size desks.
There is an airport shuttle to/from the hotel. You will need reservations with SATRANS, which can be made through the hotel web site as we get closer to the reunion and your flights have been determined.
The reunion Hospitality Suite is on 2nd floor with a 3-bedroom suite attached. Hours of use are normally 8 a.m. to midnight, but management said no problem staying later as long as noise is kept to a minimum as usual.
The meal plans are tentative at this point but expect a BBQ and a banquet.
Wednesday: Early arrivees will fend for themselves.
Thursday: Evening Buffet in hospitality room. Will try to include some PI food.
Friday: BBQ at the hotel. Cooking will be done at the hotel BBQ pit. Enjoy Tom Lanfranca's homemade Italian sausages. Hippo & Dale will be bringing authentic Wisconsin bratwursts along with cold accompaniments and snacks.
Saturday: Banquet in hotel banquet room.
I've included some pictures of the hotel below but if you want to look more indepth, here's the El Tropicano web site:

Be sure and check back for additional information as it becomes available. Hope to see you all in San Antonio.
