Near the end of March, 2007, Norm and Miki Collins were on a motorcycle trip with their local club, the San Antonio Firefighter's Motorcycle Club, from San Antonio to Key West, that beautiful place to watch the sunsets, drink, and flash. Unfortunately, en route, the rear tire of their motorcycle blew out while they were doing around 65 mph over a bridge near Tallahassee, Florida. Norm was able to hold the motorcycle from too much swerving for about 100 yards before they both hit the deck. Luckily, they hit pavement and weren't thrown off the bridge. Both Miki and Norm were taken to the local hospital suffering from permanent road rash, cuts, bruises, swelling and broken bones. Miki broke her right arm and Norm had two broken ribs and a messed up shoulder. Their heads looked like they swelled up like pumpkins. We are all extremely thankful Norm and Miki survived what could have been a very nasty accident. Here is the pictorial aftermath:
Norm and Miki's Great Adventure March 2007
Norm, Miki and their motorcycle in happier times without bumps, bruises and broken bones.
Despite the windshield and flat rear tire, the bike looks relatively unscathed. Too bad we can't say the same for Norm and Miki.
Here's where it gets ugly!
Norm looks like he's been through the ringer. Along with the black eye and cut, he even bruised his upper lip. That along with the broken ribs and other assorted owies. That is a lovely shade of green, Norm
Miki looks even worse than Norm...road rash on her face and nose and a missing tooth. That along with her broken right arm.
Miki gives Norm a noogie while flashing the bird of Fate. They both look much better after their release from the hospital.
Miki and Norm apparently back home in San Antonio  at a motorcycle club gathering. There's still arm slings and Norm has a mouse under his eye, but Miki is as lovely as usual, especially in her leathers.
And they all lived happily ever after....The End. Join us at the next reunion for the details!
