Lulu and Pogi in Paradise

Here are a few pictures of a Kuya mini-reunion in Hawaii. Mike "Lulu" Gilson, a globe-trotting executive who can sell mini-submarines in landlocked countries, took a well-deserved break with his special other to Hawaii around Thanksgiving.

Lo and behold, Al "Pogi" Shirley and his wife, Cupcake, happened to take a vacation in Hawaii at the same time. Pogi just recently retired from the USAF Reserves as an A1C and wanted to reward Cupcake with a special trip. He originally wanted to take her to the Fargo, North Dakota Walmart but she wouldn't settle for anything less than Mall of the Americas. But, Pogi pulled out his Corfam shoes, black socks, seersucker shorts and bought 2 new Hawaiian print shirts and off to Oahu they flew and met up with Lulu. Here are some pictures. ((Pogi paid a paniolo paparazzi homeless guy he met on Kalakaau Avenue. (If you haven't been to Waikiki, this area is a lot like the Dirties and the Fire Empire in Angeles City). Lulu and Kathy are giving the "Hook'em Horns" gang member sign because they thought they were at a University of Texas football game. King Kamehameha said they were lucky haoles because that sign is also "Shaka, Bra".

Lulu and Pogi are smoozing for the camera. Pogi doesn't look like a Happy Hawaiian. Must have lost the bet and had to pay the check. Or, Cupcake gave Pogi a Maui Owie when Pogi told her he wanted to get lei'd. Just some flowers to go with that nice aloha shirt!

Sara "Cupcake" Shirley had the rare opportunity to meet with Pearl Harbor survivors. This would have been the highlight of anyone's trip to Hawaii. These gentlemen were in Hawaii for the commemoration of the December 7th, 1941 attack on Hawaii.

For a lighter comment, when I first saw the pictures I thought Cupcake was looking for Pogi and kept mistaking these gents for him. Well, he looks that old to me! (See picture with Lulu above and Cupcake below).

Also noted Cupcake's head sets. Was she copying dits?

Pogi and Cupcake pose for a picture at a Lu'au on the Big Island of Hawaii. Pogi has his pukka shells and Cupcake got lei'd. Just want to know who passed the "Island Breeze"? By the looks of it, Pogi passed some poi or eau d' puu-puu platter.
