Here's only a partial Kuya Group shot. The Pilipino paparazzi failed to show and the Kuyas were in a bit of disarray. This crew was the only ones that could get rounded up before the festivities began.
Bob "Walrus" Maki and Vic "Chilibean" Kelly sharing a table to make up the first Kuya "ChiliMaki" get together
"Bongo Billy Boy" (Joe "Cy" Cybulski) taps out hot jungle rythyms to stir up the group. It must have worked because at least a couple of Animals got down and funky. Wanted to tell Cy his hat was on backwards but he was feeling his artistic, bohemian side.
Bob Maki, Buzz "DCMB" McManus, and Ken and Kathy Kramarsic are amused by whatever is happening on the stage. Okay, where's Mouse and Norm?
Kathy appears to wonder if this strange event will make the Bloomington-Normal, Illinois Pantagraph newspaper. Bit of trivia: Bloomington is also home of "Beer Nuts", a popular snack food.
The games have begun! From left enjoying some spectacle (noted low) are Miki Collins, Mary Barry-Cybulski, Miki Wise and Jim Grusecki. Miki C. looks excited while Mary BC holds her hands in possible prayer. Miki W. likes the show and Jim just can't seem to accept the craziness hasn't changed in over 30 years.
Here's a pic from the groundfloor deck before the main event. From left: Lori McManus, Sarah "Cupcake" Shirley, Bea "Ma" Campbell, Ken "Kram" Kramarsic, Darrell "Woody" Wood (in background), Buzz "Bozo" McManus and Kathy Kramarsic. Kram and Buzz never miss a photo op. Peeking behind them with a big smile is Pat Rotunno who's standing with husband and ne'er-do-well Ralph, Miki Collins and, not exactly sure but I think, Jim Grusecki's wife
Here's more happy yuks from left Kevin "Pooh Bear" Brown, Mark "Tarzan" Lyvers, and Randy "Random" Roberts. In the background are from left: Ma and Marv Campbell, Glenn "Saint" Gillette. Can't be sure who that is in the shadows to the right.
Now we know the source of hilarity...Mouse joins the band after a gaudy, yet somewhat lewd, dancing spectacular outside that was seen by everyone in the banquet room. Mouse was rollin'. He performed all of the dances...Watusi, Moonwalk, Swim, Mash Potatoes and a bit of provocative striptease. He was being encouraged by his hammer, Rummy, who was tipping him off to try every kind of dance step. Here, straight from his Whiskey A Go Go dancing, Mouse has joined the Fresh Garbage Band singing "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" by James Brown. Gregg "Turk" Taylor (right) is on bass guitar, Dave Davies on lead guitar, and Joe "Cy" Cybulski on drums. This must be the Kuya Animals idea of a song and dance act!
Mouse is joined by that old crooner, Norm Collins for a stirring rendition of "House of the Rising Sun". Norm could sure hit those low notes.
This must be a reincarnation of the Rat Pack, er "Mouse Pack". Mouse and Norm changed the words to the "House of the Rising K Sally". That's why Cy, in thebackground, has his ears perked up. He knows that place! With the look on Mouse's face he must be describing the time K Sally tried to kiss him!
Just like the old days of Poo Lu Productions for an all-day session at the Blue Eagle with Chit and the Madisons and all the San Miguel you could drink for ONLY $3.00 (12 pesos). Instead of Chit and the Madisons we were lucky to have Fresh Garbage later joined later by the Ball Snatcher's Mouse Pack.
Mouse finished up doing a heel-toe walk over to the table to try and impress the hammers with a loud, James Brown "Owwwww!" Notice Kathy Kramarsic (printed top), initially laughing, has moved ever so much closer. Maybe she wanted to touch a rock star. Mouse had actually expected the hammers to throw room keys and panties.
Miki Wise is gettin' down! Mike "Lulu" Gilson throws up his hands seemingly to say "But my hips don't work anymore!" Mouse looks on saying "Miki, you be bad, Girl!"
